CETA stands for Changing Education Through THE Arts. This is a program we have at Drew in which staff work with artists from the Kennedy Center
to learn ways to use art to teach academic subjects and vise versa.
The workshop I am participating in this year is Poetry and Music: Exploring Rhythm, Reading and Writing. After the class thought of many words which begin with a particular letter sound we also listed adjectives and verbs which begin with the same sound. Then we wrote alliteration poetry, poetry focusing on 1 letter sound to help children learn letter sounds. Kindergartners then wrote their own poems.
